In this article we are pleased to be able to feature even more designs from the team at Studio Smader. With their thoroughly modern taste and careful attention to design detail, these interiors are both beautiful and inviting, across the board and we couldn’t resist giving this studio a back to back feature.
The exterior of this first modern home is sleek. The way the light beckons from the other side of the huge windows is immediately inviting.
Those massive windows slide open to create an easy flow from indoors to out.
The home’s reflecting pool is large, adding a focal point for the sloping yard while also functioning as a stylish border.
Inside, the home’s furnishings are well matched to one another without feeling too stiff.
Dark wood floors contrast with soft plush rugs and sofas.
The front entrance makes use of the same sliding window panes, making it difficult to distinguish nature from home.
A simple breakfast bar area gets light and air from surrounding windows while an outdoor dining set sits just beyond on a small patio nook.
Minimal furniture makes the house seem that much more open, but the occasional creative piece, like this plush chair, give the house personality.
The kitchen is narrow but long with spacious counters, including a gorgeous butcher block.
The woven wood door makes entering the home feel like entering a secret garden.
This next home features some of the same low slung modern profiles, but overall has a much different atmosphere.
Rather than a calming reflecting pool, this yard features enough space to swim.
The beautiful entryway is shaded by plenty of greenery, giving it both privacy and vibrance.
More furnishings and kincknacks lke stone vessels and mirrors make this home feel lived in and warm.
A gleaming marble floor catches plenty of sunlight from the large windows and seems to lift the ceiling to massive heights.
Classically styled chairs coupled with simple white sofas make this living area entirely practical but still stylish.
Outdoor furnishings are kept simple and minimal, lest the yard become cluttered.
This next home takes a very minimalist spin on furniture, giving the occupants plenty of negative space and an overall zen palette.
A simple wooden dining table becomes a conversation piece and a conversation space with it’s interesting, off-kilter base.
Thick slabs of stone make for durable, almost industrial flooring.
Wooden slats seem to float against the wall to create a practical but very attractive staircase.
And built-in bookshelves offer storage while being a design element in and of themselves.
Spacious bedrooms can be a complete retreat with work space and a private patio.
Only the owners can decide when to keep their warm wooden door propped open and when to close it to the rest of the world.
From certain angles, the house seems almost like a bunker, but once inside you can see how sunny and welcoming it really is.
This next home doesn’t have the same floor space as some of the others, but does make similar use of windows, and modern decor that is never fussy.
Sliding window panes let fresh air into the kitchen and dining area.
While durable outdoor furnishings let you choose where to sit on a whim.
White walls and a shiny stone floor make the house seem bigger while unique clustered light fixtures give it a bit of whimsy.
This large stone house has a feel that’s a bit reminiscent of a (very stylish) home in the American Southwest.
A reclaimed wood garden path is a perfectly unique touch.
Exposed ceiling beams give the large formal dining area a more rustic feel. The beams actually extend out over the patio for a very interesting visual.
The team has chosen furnishings within the same family but that don’t match exactly, which gives the space a certain class.
Antique luggage become furniture in this room fit for a wanderer.
The sliding doors to the outside are mimicked in the sliding interior doors that let light pass through, even when they are closed.
A custom pot rack is always a welcome site and ties together this spacious and beautiful kitchen.
This next home takes the large sliding window theme and pulls it up into the second story as well.
The home’s entry is carefully landscaped with mosses and colorful, native plants.
Including a nicely manicured tree that resembles an overgrown bonsai.
The living areas are also spacious with lots of attention paid to keep lines clean and simple.
Thought much of the furnishing choices are grey to beige, colorful light fixtures and art pieces add important splashes throughout the home.
Supple leather seating is plentiful while its simple design keeps the room uncluttered.
A dining table for twelve could be full every night in this beautiful home.
A fireplace built directly into a concrete wall is not only a feat of engineering, but makes a beautiful sight even when the fire is out.
Shelving is perfect for the display of small pieces, but tucked away enough so as not to be distracting.
A pool and detached outdoor shelter make for perfect summer relaxing or entertaining in this particular two story house.
A tucked away space for screening movies, watching television or even practicing the drums doesn’t interfere with the carefully curated main area of the house.
Managing to make horizontal blinds look stylish is no small task, but they have managed to do so in this sunny living room.
This bath takes a step away from the sunnier designs in the rest of the house and uses black walls and counters for a distinctly masculine feel.
Sunny, white, bright, playful, modern, and a little bit funky are all ways we could describe this particular house that has a youthful glow about it.
A wide kitchen island and attached dining table are incredibly welcoming.
Vaulted ceilings with two levels of windows gives sunlight galore.
The overall white color scheme screams modern and artistic, as do the creative touches like light fixtures and off-center bookshelves.
Even the bedrooms and en suite baths keep things white on white.
Finally, we have a few more goodies from the team’s portfolio, starting with this lovely built in bookshelf and cozy modern floor seating.
Bringing wicked furniture indoors is a challenge but it works in this sunny living room.
Another big dining room for families that love to entertain, this table features a creative serving area at one end where there is no seating.
It is always lovely when designers find a good way to include a television without giving it center stage in the design.
Who doesn’t long for a huge, deep tub to wash away the day?
